The Cliffs of Moher Trails

Doolin Cliff Walk

The spectacular coastal walking trail linking the village of Doolin and the Cliffs of Moher and on to Hags Head and Liscannor starts right outside Sea View House. The full trail from Doolin to Liscannor is 18 km long but the section from Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher is 8km long and takes about 2 hrs each way. Download the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk - Map

The walk is fairly flat with only a slight and gradual rise to the higher cliffs. The overall trail takes about 6 hours allowing plenty time to stop for photos, breaks and taking in the scenery with views to the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, Aill Na Searrach and the Atlantic Ocean way below your feet. You can do the entire walk or just a section of the walk starting at a number of parking areas along the route or from the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre itself.

Please not walk the path in poor weather and do not approach the cliff edge. The trail is not suitable for young children and bicycles and dogs are forbidden on the trail. The walking trail has been developed with kind assistance of local landowners and organisations. Please respect the landowners, their fencing and their livestock by parking only in designated areas and staying on the official trail.

The Trail Head in Doolin

The officail trail car park in Doolin is at the Russel Community Centre in the Northern end of the Village. From there it is a 10 minute walk through the village to the start of the cliff side trail.

• Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre ​- 8km (​2.5 to 3 hours​).
• Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre to Hags Head​ - 5 km ​(1.5 to 2 hours).
• Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre to Moher Sports Field Parking ​- 6 km (1.5 to 2 hours).
• Moher Sports Field Parking to Liscannor village - ​6 km (1.5 to 2 hours).

The Trail Head Liscannor

There is usually enouigh on street parking in Liscannor village. From Liscannor village,the trail follows the quiet country roads and paths to Hags Head and the signal tower. However you can cut out the road section and park at the Moher Sports Field orprivate car park at Hags Head. Fees apply.

Its possible to return to Doolin or Liscannor from the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre using the Bus Eireann 350 Bus or local taxi.
